U.S. Rep. Rick Allen has introduced legislation setting new rules governing robocalls generated by artificial intelligence.
The Creating Legal and Ethical AI Recordings, or CLEAR, Voices Act would ensure that AI-generated calling systems would fall under the same regulations as more conventional communications systems that automatically dial phone numbers and play unsolicited recorded messages. It would update the federal Communications Act first passed in 1934.
